Barack Obama Wins Nobel Peace Prize‎

U.S. President Barack Obama has won the Nobel Peace Prize. He earned prestigious award with his efforts for peace in the world and with the hope that he gives people.

Obama became in the beginning of this year the first black U.S. president, and since then he is repeatedly calling for a reduction of nuclear arsenals around the world. Also thanks to the efforts for nuclear disarmament as well as the revival of stalled attempts to Middle East peace process between Israelis and Palestinians, he has become this year’s Nobel Prize Winner for Peace.

Committee for the Nobel Prize wrote that Obama has proved with his “extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between people. Only few people on the world can catch the attention of the world and give people hope for a better future. He is one of them”, they declared in a statement.

“His diplomacy is based on the premise that those who run the world, should work in accordance with the values and attitudes held by the majority of the population in the world,” it is said in the grounds of the prize.

Obama is the third senior U.S. Democrat politician who received the Nobel Peace Prize. Before this was former President Jimmy Carter in 2002 and former Vice-President Al Goru in 2007.

Among the main favorites were also Zimbabwe’s Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai and Chinese dissident Hu Džia. This year, it was a record number of candidates for the prize (205).
