Keith Olbermann Describes His Dad’s Health Predicament

During an hour-long “special comment” on the necessity of health care reform (watch the entire “special comment” at MSNBC.com), Keith Olbermann recalls the ordeal which landed his father in the hospital, with symptoms including dehydration and hallucinations, possibly brought on by kidney dysfunction. He had fallen off of his bed attempting to urinate.

  1. Keith… I hate your guts and hope you will crawl in a sewer… but I wish your father the best.

  2. your father (and your mother) must be real assholes to raise someone like you. I hope he fucking suffers like hell, and then goes to hell ( with your cock-sucking mother) When he dies, soon I hope, tell me where he’s buried so I can SHIT ON HIS GRAVE AND SPELL OUT ‘”FOX NEWS’ WITH MY TURDS. I’LL SAVE A COUPLE OF SHITBALLS FOR YOUR MOTHERS GRAVE WHILE I’M THERE. FUCK YOU ASSHOLE

  3. Now you’re just being ridiculous. “Be a Christian?” Really? Why bring religion into this…believing in Christianity (or any religion) isn’t a prerequisite for having a heart and caring for others.

  4. Sweetfat,
Thanks for making MY point! LOL

  5. There isn’t any truth in your points to either like or dislike.

  6. way to go Keith all people have to do is think have a heart and be Christian care for each other and not be selfish and use some basic intelligence. thank you Keith. amazing great work.

  7. Watch the whole segment to grasp his points.
He’s not asking the government to take care of his father, he’s asking the government to take care of other people’s parent/child that might not be as lucky/rich as he is.
Taking personal responsibility? What the hell are you talking about? Taking personal responsibility = pay money to make parents/children get better. If there’s no money, there’s no responsibility. Haven’t you guys seen John Q?? Gosh…

  8. SweetFAT,
YOUR styles, or what people CHOOSE?
But it seems, like typical liberals do, to FORCE people to do things the way YOU want them to do!
And yet… I was hoping for a comment on the points instead of an English teacher’s critique! But I take it you didn’t like the truth in those points?
    Pity…. LOL

  9. Stylistic note: lies don’t become truth when you (over)use capital letters.

  10. Keith is so passionate about health care reform and his Special Comment last night was tremendous = reminds me of Ted Kennedy fighting the good fight.
    Thanks.

  11. **DEMOCRAT’S PLANS**
    1. FORCE you to give up your FREEDOM by MANDATING health care insurance!
    2. TAXES (or fines) on those that fail to obtain “acceptable” coverage would range from $750 to $3,800 under the plan!
    3. Cut Medicare to the elderly and give “FREE” coverage to ILLEGAL ALIENS!
    4. INCREASE the DEFICIT by $9.8 TRILLION DOLLARS so by 2020, the deficit will be $22 TRILLION DOLLARS!
    5. Pass the bill quickly so that NO ONE knows what’s in the bill and NO ONE knows what they’re getting!

  12. Kez,
Don’t mind paying more in taxes???
Ok, let’s see if this is true!
Then YOU start TODAY by letting obamer draft YOUR personal checking account EACH WEEK by 40% of YOUR earnings!
WILL YOU BE THE FIRST to send obamer money?
    Do YOU accept this challenge?
BTY… The NEW taxes won’t be for National Defense… we’re already paying for that!
And I’M willing to wait until 2099 for this health care MANDATE to remove ANOTHER one of MY freedoms!

  13. We’ve been waiting nearly 100 years since Teddy Roosevelt’s proposal … what’s another 8?

  14. Olby hangs his own character on this one. I feel sorry for his father but Olby is a multi-millionaire. Does he think the government should be looking after his father instead of taking personal responsibility?

    This is typical liberal thought.

  15. 1. watch the whole video not just this sigment
    2. how would olberman know his dad was in that prediciment
    3. what if it wasnt olbermans dad, what if it was your dad or someone who just cannot afford to keep for thier ill father

what if you have 3 kids a job and live away from you father and you can barley afford life atm, no nieghbour can help and there are no other family or friends

what would your father do then?

this is the reason america need national healthcare

  16. You are so dense. What will happen if we pass something in 2013? How long will we wait then? Want to wait until 2017?
    Anyone mind waiting 8 years?
And I don’t mind paying more taxes for health care. I think our govt’s job is to keep us SAFE, which it does with it’s national defense, and keep us HEALTHY, which it cannot do because of ignorant morons, and because of health insurance companies and special interests.

  17. SUPPORT OBAMA CARE???
    “IF” this passes….
Think you’ll get health care coverage real soon?
    Think again.. it’ll be 2013!!!!
    Google the next sentence…
    .
health care reform bill will begin in 2013 at the earliest
    .
Anyone mind WAITING 4 YEARS FOR HEALTH CARE COVERAGE…while your taxes go up starting NEXT year????

  18. I see all these nasty and hateful comments and you admit you haven’t seen the entire segment before posting your hate speech at least watch the entire segment.

  19. Those that said Keith’s Dad should have been living with family- the elderly sometimes refuse to move in with their kids they want to hang on to their independence as long as they can.

  20. I’ll keep your Father in my thoughts and prayers Keith

  21. True, but wouldn’t a viable solution be having some sort of live-in assistance, having him in a nursing home environment, or something along those lines?

Olbermann read off a whole list of medical problems his father had….Since Olbermann is 50 years old, I’d imagine his dad is pushing into his 70s or even 80s?

Someone in his condition shouldn’t be living alone, especially not if there are family members who have the financial resources to provide help such as a live-in nurse.

  22. Agreed.

  23. I have to agree here. I feel for his dad but where is the wealthy loving family? My father took care of his father till death. He took on the responsibility because the family didn’t have the money for a rest home. Was it easy? Hell no. Was it worth it? If you ask him Yes.
Since It didn’t show the entire segment I am curious where this story was going. Was he knocking the med system, was he knocking insurance, was he knocking the repubs for not wanting to pay for his fathers treatment?

  24. so what is Olbermans point he didn’t check oh his dad?? they have money why didnt olberman hire someone to be with his dad.. from the sounds of it …. it does not sound like his dad should have been alone.. what the hell does this have to do with healthcare reform?? not a dam thing .. it is olberman just doing a rant about a situation that is his fault

  25. Thanks Keith
