Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) apologized for screaming “You Lie” at President Barack Obama during last night’s joint session of Congress. As Rep. Wilson explained, his emotions got the best of him. Sen. John mccain (R-AZ) called the incident “totally insulting.” Rep. Earl Pomeroy (D-ND) said he’s “never seen anything like that before.” Rep. Wilson issued the following apology shortly after the incident. This evening I let my emotions get the best of me when listening to the presidents remarks regarding the coverage of illegal immigrants in the healthcare bill. While I disagree with the presidents statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. I extend sincere apologies to the president for this lack of civility. Rep. Wilson’s campaign opponent has raised close to $70000 since last night as of this post. You showed how much Rob Miller made from people donating to his campaign against Wilson, but what you fail to mention is how much Wilson raised to defend his seat. I can assure you, it was in the millions. And check the CPVI for SC’s 2nd district. R+9. Joe Wilson isn’t going anywhere. And did anyone watch governors’ races in NJ and VA, as well as the Senate race in MA? Obama campaigned in those states, and no one cares – the candidates he was pulling for all lost. Obama’s agenda is done.

haha i like that when he says “you lie” it sounds like when someone says a smart remark in high school..”ohhhhhhh”…both sides of the political spectrum i am sick with at this point and, for the most part, care more about poilitcal agenda’s and backing with funds than the welfare of the nation…vote independent or very moderate in your next elections and see how things move smoother
MiiVersusReeseman888 on March 12th, 2010 12:04 am
Just because you voted for Cynthia McKinney doesn’t mean your not racist. African American and Cacasian are not the only two races. Racism is fought by ignoring the notion of it if you ask me so just live life and ignore anyone who uses that word. They are just lost in a circle filled with destruction.
It’s true that Bush and Obama aren’t true to their party, but Americans still agree with them on some domestic things (or they think they do) which is why we are screwed.
jellozoo on March 12th, 2010 12:51 am
Hey Ms Curious…
Where was I when Bush lied? Telling the world about it…. just like I’m doing now with Obama, because the Republican Party and the Democratic Party are NOW BOTH OWNED.
Case in point: Bush wasn’t a conservative, he tripled the size of our government and doubled our debt. Obama is not a liberal, we are now more at war than ever. WAKE UP PLEASE!!
Racism?? As I said before, I voted for Cynthia McKinney, a full-blooded african american WOMAN.
Check “the Obama Deception,.”

At 1:17, Obama appears to be telling something untrue again. As a presidential candidate, Obama (in a speech to Planned Parenthood) promised to force taxpayer funding of abortion-on-demand in his vision of health care reform. (In that speech, he referred to abortion under the umbrella term “reproductive health”.) Excerpts from that Obama speech are also on YouTube: “Obama promises abortion in public plan”.

Look at the anger in Obamas face ! HA HA HA.
Neuromancer1970 on March 12th, 2010 2:00 am
Am I undeserving of health care simply because I can’t afford it? Most conservatives would say “Yes”. How many other Americans are in my situation? A lot, I’m sure. It doesn’t matter because if I do get sick, I am going to the doctor (whether I have insurance or not). It will bankrupt me and put me on welfare, and since I wouldn’t be able to pay for it all myself, the insured would pay for it through there HMOs.
Neuromancer1970 on March 12th, 2010 2:46 am
I just think that American citizens deserve health care, even when they can’t afford it. Three years ago, I had a job pulling in nearly six figures in salary annually. I’m educated and worked hard at the company for nearly 9 years. Then, my job was outsourced to Taiwan because of Bush’s relaxed restrictions on free trade. Now, I’m making $8.50 an hour in retail. I’m severely under-employed and can’t afford health insurance or much of anything else. I hope the situation is temporary.
ComissarGramsci on March 12th, 2010 3:11 am
Nah.. UK can manage it. I’m sure USA will toddle along behind us, ditching the barbaric “only if you can afford it” system for health and coming up with a more population friendly and less corrupt NHS style plan.
ComissarGramsci on March 12th, 2010 3:49 am
A Saudi Royal offered 10 million dollars for those shoes.
I think your view on hating but having some respect is.. respectable.. but personally I wouldn’t respect him because his rise to power and his time in power is so controversial and lie ridden.. I just find it hard to have an ounce of respect for a man like that.
But yeah, I think the general idea that a man of authority like him shouldn’t have to face something like that.. even if it was well deserved and billions loved it.
Neuromancer1970 on March 12th, 2010 4:43 am
It was an Iraqi who threw the shoe at Bush and it was in Iraq. Furthermore, the guy was jailed for it. You wouldn’t expect a senator to heckle our own President. He is the President of the United States and he deserves your respect when on the podium, whether you agree with him or not. As much as I hate Bush (more than you can imagine), I never would have insulted him in that way while in office.

que cet élu se soit tu lors du discours de W sur les fausses ADM irakiennes, un “vous mentez” aurait peut-être eu quelque effet à ce moment.

Basically, ‘their purchase’ brings back the dollars their earn into the US economy, rather than sending it back. Its good for general equilibrium and I think you need to understand the basic principle economic in general before starting to use xenophobic views as way to shape the country,
cepacol06 on March 12th, 2010 7:20 am
so, he voted in 2003 and now calling the president liar for the things he did was the same thing?
the previous bill ‘let’ immigrants to get healtcare where the tax payers cover for it, under new system, they actually have to ‘purchase’ the healthcare from their pocket money if they can establish proper, real documentation.
There is a different thing between just smear tactic or just poor understanding of the real; situation, regardless, the immigrants are the working class.
botchalism on March 12th, 2010 7:50 am
What like Republicans didn’t fuck up bad enough during their reign? They support globalism and illegals just as much as the democrats, keep rooting for tweedledum over tweedledee and watch our country go down in flames while both parties watch from a comfortable distance in their mansions and yachts.
botchalism on March 12th, 2010 8:47 am
It is a lie, I guarantee they will find a way to cover illegals, and if they don’t they’ll just keep using the ER which costs even MORE tax money then if they went to an ordinary clinic vs ER. Republicans supported illegals too, so don’t think they aren’t just as big a sell outs as the democrats.

It happens only in America.. Freedom of speech, democracy, values hahahahah
They have the courage to go around the world and say we are attacking Iraq or Iran to free people and implement democracy … I hope they try it with Iran and then we will see whats gone happen. Americans are fuckin monkeys with no brains. Their own government killed 3000 people in TTowers and they believe the terrorists did it .. what do you expect from Americans. All they know is Mac Donald’s and Wendy’s
alboss13 on March 12th, 2010 10:41 am
So pathetic .. They stand up when they hear lies.. What someone cant say lier if they think MR Obama is a lier?? Is there freedom of speech in this country or we have become a bunch of brainwashed stupid people who listen to whatever they want us to believe?
espi262 on March 12th, 2010 11:11 am
you do realize that Joe Wilson has taken in more than $1,500,000 in campaign donations in less than a week following his comment? Whomever the President targets will not only hold their seat, they will become part of an ever growing oppositional majority to Obama.
poofyandpink on March 12th, 2010 11:52 am
So, a congress man can say “You Lie” during a speech, and the whole country comes down on him for being so disrespectful, yet when Bush was president a man threw a shoe at his head and our country CHEERS for the man??!?!?!? What the heck? What is our country turning INTO?
