Many people are asking this question because President Obama used a whopping 22 pens to sign the health care bill into law on Tuesday, March 23, 2010. Why so many?
It is a long held tradition for presidents to use many pens simply because they become historic artifacts. Some are engraved by the White House and given out as gifts to those who helped pass the law. President Johnson used a rumored 75 pens to sign the Civil Rights Act in 1964.

He wanted to give some members of the House and Senate some souveniers – so he used a diff pen to sign each page, and then all those people could say they had a pen from the signing of the bill.

JESUS would want every American to have health insurance, illness treated, sick people not be discriminated against, & not be bankrupt by lack of health care. JESUS would also say the money is well spend on SAVING LIVES. JESUS wouldn’t approve calling Black, N word, Gay, F word, & Mexican, W word or throwing bricks at Congressmens office because of political disagreement. JESUS wouldnt approve calling up Congressmen to leave death threats.

Could someone tell me why Obama signed this Bill with so many different pens? Were they not working or ran out of ink? It looked so comical. I’m in UK but I am glad this Health Bill was passed and is a legacy of Edward Kennedyswho fought for years for the poor of America.
